Busy Mama Spring Cleaning

Before Lucia, I had all the time in the world to clean. I’m a weird one and I actually enjoy it too, so now that I don’t have the time I use to have, I get this weird itch.

Nesting helped a lot during pregnancy, I ended up purging half of my house. There was a Fall Cleaning and a Winter Cleaning.. pretty much consistently organizing and getting rid of all the junk. Justin probably thought I was crazy.

Now that it’s time for the infamous Spring Cleaning, I have to take some shortcuts and manage my time a little better. Below are a few tips for cleaning in a timely manner.

/ / Utilize nap time / /

They say sleep while baby is sleeping, but you and me both know that sleeping during the day while you have a million things on your mind is NOT happening.

/ / Make a Schedule / /

Nap time is only so long. So if you split your chores into a specific schedule, you may find your self more productive and less stressed.

/ / Start Small and Make Lists / /

You’re only human, so give yourself a break. And with a tiny babe, medium babe, or even a big babe, you can only do so much. Start with one chore that HAS to be done that day, if you have time for more .. great! But if you over plan, you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment. This said, make a list and stick to it! One chore, one activity for your mental health, and one thing for your job or hobby. More can be added later, but don’t wear yourself out!

Now that you’ve got some motivation.. go clean! Here’s a Busy Mom list for you.

& remember, don’t try this all in one day. Space it out, mama.

  1. Been doing some spring cleaning here as well. I agree with you 100% about taking advantage during their nap times and making lists. I really don’t know what I would do without both of those precious tips! 😉

  3. Making a schedule is key! I have always wanted to make a schedule different things to clean each day but haven’t done so yet! Now that is on today’s list. And I need to make sure I remember those toaster crumbs!

  6. Some great advice! I give myself 3 housework tasks each day that must be done before my bedtime. That way even of I get busy or something happens I have done the basics, a load of washing is always one of them and so is cleaning the kitchen, then I can add one more that needs to be attended to. If we all have clothes to wear, a clean kitchen and food prepared, we will all survive til tomorrow 😉 Rose @ Our House of Love

  7. Make a list and make a schedule. Two simple, yet profound steps. Now I realize why I usually don’t finish my spring cleaning until the winter holidays ha ha!

  8. YES! This is a must! Between my FT job, my crazy 5 year old (who’s room is pretty clean because he likes to mess up the rest of the house) & blogging I HAVE to schedule my cleaning!

  9. Ah…I remember the after babies stage. I thought my house would never get clean…and I’m kind of a clean freak. It drove me crazy. I love all the helpful hints you have for new mommas. 😊
